Tenshabi (天赦日), the day heaven forgives: All Dates in 2026
The luckiest day in the Japanese calendar, when heaven is said to forgive every wrong. It is a Tsuchinoe-tora day from Risshun to Rikka, Kinoe-uma from Rikka to Risshū, Tsuchinoe-saru from Risshū to Rittō and Kinoe-ne from Rittō to Risshun, so there are only 5 to 7 a year. It is considered ideal for weddings, opening a business, buying a new wallet or starting anything new.

Days that overlap with other lucky days
Mar 5 (Tiger day + Tenshabi + Ichiryū-manbai-bi) – also Sanrinbō, so not for building (some regions avoid moving too), May 4 (Tiger day + Tenshabi) – during Doyō, when some avoid moving soil (moving house, groundbreaking), Oct 1 (Tenshabi + Ichiryū-manbai-bi), Dec 16 (Kinoe-ne day + Tenshabi + Ichiryū-manbai-bi)
Days that fall on Fujōju-bi or Jushi-bi are left out. When Tenshabi and Fujōju-bi coincide, some schools say Tenshabi cancels the bad luck and others give Fujōju-bi priority.
How to use Tenshabi
Weddings and registering a marriage, opening a business, moving house, a new wallet: it is said to be the very best day to begin something, and many people time big decisions and contracts for it. When it coincides with Fujōju-bi, schools differ on how to treat it.
The meaning of these days is explained in Lucky days and festivals of the eto, and the calculation in How the calendar is calculated. Almanac notes can differ between traditions.
